I’m happy you managed to solve it and for bringing this to my attention. I have my Kindle registered on amazon.com, my location is in Norway, and I never encountered the issue you mentioned – I’ve always been able to download and purchase eBooks on amazon.com. I have no clue why this happened to you :(. I’m sorry for the trouble, and I really hope this is not an issue for many other people.

In reply to liza. Hi again, Finally managed to find the source of problem. If you have a Kindle registered to Amazon.com account and your region/country is a different country (ie The Netherlands as in my example), Amazon does not allow you to purchase it free of charge neither at Amazon.com nor other Amazon local websites (ie Amazon.nl). You have to go to the Amazon Kindle account at Amazon.com (specifically “Manage your contents and devices” page) and migrate your Kindle device to Amazon local website. After doing this for Amazon.nl, it has finally worked. It was quite cumbersome to be honest, and hopefully I haven’t lost any of my previous library in the meantime. Thanks so much anyway!

Hi GY, I just clicked on the link you shared https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B091FTWDMR/, I am logged in on my Amazon account, and I can see the button in Dutch “Kindle-editie – € 0,00” and right under “Lezen met onze Gratis app”. It’s not possible to share screenshots via the comments but these options are at the very top of the page. Are you logged in to your account? Do you have the free Kindle app? All you need to do is click on “Kindle-editie – € 0,00”.

I have accounts at amazon.com/nl/de/co.uk and tried all. As mentioned above, Amazon.com offers the paperback versions only (even I have a Kindle registered to my account there). And Amazon.nl says “This title is not currently available for purchase”. Here is the link:
